Why we built MingleHub

A place where 8 billion people can finally talk — and where strangers become New Friends.

It started with a silence. Not a peaceful silence, but the kind that settles over a crowded train, a busy office, a family dinner — where everyone is together, yet no one is talking. In 2026 we watched a DW News report titled “People are getting quieter and scientists are concerned.” The data was sobering: face-to-face conversation is declining, loneliness is rising, and the very fabric of human connection is thinning.

We looked around and realised we were part of the problem. We had hundreds of “friends” online, but no one to ask how their day really went. That video was a mirror — and we didn’t like what we saw.

Then came a second spark — unexpected and hilarious. We stumbled on Ronny Chieng’s Harvard Class Day 2026 address, a speech that made us laugh, then think. In the middle of it he asked a question we couldn’t shake: “How do people mingle and talk to each other about plastics and microplastics making their way into our balls?”

It was absurd. It was profound. And it was exactly the kind of raw, unfiltered, human question no algorithm would ever dare to ask. We realised: if we can’t talk about that, what can we talk about?

We began to imagine a place where a fisherman in Kerala could debate politics with a student in Toronto. Where a grandmother in Lagos could share her jollof-rice recipe with a teenager in Berlin. Where a coder in Bangalore and a poet in Buenos Aires could talk about movies, music, mystery, and the meaning of it all — without ads or algorithms deciding who deserves to be heard.

We didn’t want another feed. We wanted a fireside — digital, global, and open to everyone. A place where strangers become New Friends.

So we built MingleHub — a place to make New Friends from anywhere on the globe. It isn’t about likes or followers. It’s about friendly, random talks, jobs and careers, travel and food, movies and music, politics and history, mystery and conspiracy, wellness and confidence, language practice, science and technology — and a thousand topics we haven’t even imagined yet.

Every conversation is a doorway. Every New Friend is a story waiting to be heard.

But talk alone is not enough. AI is evolving at its own pace, reshaping economies, cultures, and lives. In that rush, we must not forget the basics: clean water; clean lakes, rivers and oceans; clean air; plastic-free living; good, healthy food; joy and happiness.

These are not “causes.” They are the conditions of being alive. And they won’t be solved by a single government or a single genius — they’ll be solved by billions of people talking to each other, across borders, across languages, across generations.

That is why MingleHub is more than a website. It’s an invitation — to the quiet ones and the curious ones, the lonely and the loud, the dreamers and the skeptics, the scientists and the poets, the farmers and the founders. Everyone who still believes that a stranger is simply a New Friend you haven’t spoken to yet.

We built it for the fisherman and the philosopher. For the mother and the musician. For you.

Today, MingleHub is live. It’s small, it’s growing, and it belongs to the people who join and dare to speak — not to a corporation, not to an algorithm. We don’t know where this journey leads, but we know this: the future won’t be built by those who stay silent.
